In this month’s bulletin we receive the latest update from the Children’s Safeguarding and Improvement Board which includes good reports about the MASH, the actions and activities taking place to strengthen relationships between social work teams and others involved in safeguarding, the Devon Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB) events planned in 2015, and focusing on GPs and Devon CCGs.

An empowering day – our Keeping Devon’s Children Safe conference

Building upon the success of last year's conference, our event held earlier this month focused on neglect, child sexual abuse and key issues for working with vulnerable children.

 “An empowering day” is how a number of you described this year's conference.

Foster carer awards

Award ceremony celebrates long-serving foster carers in Devon

The annual Carer Celebration Awards took place at County Hall where over 60 carers received a certificate of appreciation. Around 120 people, including many foster children, gathered to recognise the achievements of carers who have given between five and 30+ years of their lives to fostering.

Changes to the Child Chronologies, mentioned in the November bulletin, went live on 3 December. The chronologies now include the information from TRIM.

How to refer to the National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS)

Follow the process for all NYAS advocacy referrals (for Initial Child Protection Conferences) made via the Independent Reviewing Unit. 


Permanency via Fostering team

The Fostering Family Finding Team has now changed its name to the Permanency via Fostering Team.


Process for setting up carers on CareFirst to receive an adoption allowance or a child arrangement order allowance
